Welcome to the Book of Nine

Nine questions. One biological vehicle. A lifetime to investigate.

You have been given a body – a biological vehicle for your consciousness to reside and travel in. You didn’t design it. You didn’t choose its operating system, its genetic code, its senses, its instincts, or the strange chemistry that keeps it alive. Yet this body is the vehicle through which you experience everything.

The questions are where The Book of Nine begins.

This is not a book of answers.

Despite its name, The Book of Nine isn’t intended to tell you what to believe. It isn’t a religion. It isn’t a collection of secret teachings. It is something simpler.

It is an investigation.

There are things we know. There are things we believe we know. There are things we suspect. There are things people have experienced that we cannot adequately explain. And there are enormous territories about human existence that remain unknown. I want to explore all of them. Science will have a place here. So will philosophy. So will ancient traditions, mythology, consciousness studies, psychology, biology and the accumulated experiences of human beings who have spent thousands of years asking the same strange questions. But none of them gets a free pass. An ancient idea isn’t true simply because it is ancient. A modern idea isn’t true simply because it is scientific-sounding. A personal experience is meaningful without necessarily being proof. And something being unexplained does not automatically make it supernatural. The standard here will be curiosity tempered by skepticism.

Question everything—including the conclusions you want to believe.

Why Nine?

There will be nine categories of investigations. They aren’t nine commandments. They aren’t nine steps to enlightenment. They are simply a way to structure the investigation.

Enter the Book

The world is full of certainty. People will tell you what consciousness is. What happens after death. Why we dream. What intuition means. What reality is. What life means. What we are. Some speak with scientific authority. Some speak with spiritual authority. Some speak from personal experience.

So The Book of Nine begins somewhere else. With a question. Then another. And another. This is an investigation into the vehicle. The passenger. The world outside the vehicle. The world inside it. The programming that shapes us. The mystery of consciousness. And the final destination toward which every human life is traveling.
